We start off today's show with the Uncle talking about how beautiful the weather was this weekend and taking a walk at Centinnial Park with his grand kids. Only 34% of Mobile citizens, according to a Mobile Register poll say the city is going into the right direction. Took about 14 years for the 66% to find out what's really going on, says the Uncle. Gene hopes for a Vigor Wolves player to be picked up by Alabama someday, since he executed an excellent 30+ yard kick. The Uncle brings up the time Leeana injured herself on the same trampoline she jumped on this weekend. Auburn fan reminds Alabama fans, along with the Uncle about their legacy. After two pranks in the first half-hour, including pig snorting and "Rocky Top", the Uncle calls in Leeana yet again. Part of a commercial played during the quite vague caller with "un-confirmed" news on the "weapons of mass destruction". Turns out that news was actually reported almost a year ago. "Bad Bill" calls in by answering machine suggesting the recall of Mobile city council folk Nodine, Hudson, Brooks, and insults the Uncle at the beginning of a regular call. Now that's a first, the Uncle cuts off old Bill as he was insulting him. More on the court case of the lady that trapped in storage facility for 63+ days was reported Saturday, which included descriptions on her long fingernails. The jury continues their deliberation on the case. The Uncle passed on attending the testimony today, but wished he should have. Today's show gets a 4.5/5!

We start off today's show with an update on the Uncle's car situation and lots of talk in the hallway of 710 about today's front page Mobile Register story, which is about a lady getting locked in a storage facility for 63 days and suing that very facility. The whole thing is just mind boggling to the Uncle and Scott O'Brien. The trial begins Monday and the Uncle will try to attend. Lin raises the spirits of Alabama fans, including the Uncle to stay with the team through thick and thin, since some callers appear to be throwing in the towel for the Tide. Gene reports on the "S-word" being said on Paul Finebaum recently, which can still be was censored on the delay feed in Birmingham. Scott finally gets his say on the Uncle accusing that half-hour ABC Newsbreak of being liberal bias most of the time. The Uncle loses hope on the new Star Trek series "Enterprise", mostly because of backrubs being done on the show. Audio "evidence" of the so-called Leeana controversy at the Pat Peck today was played for her. Another prankster, another calm Uncle. Must have stayed calm because Scott was still in the room. We start off today's show with the Uncle telling listeners to be careful calling into today's show due to Leeana being off and reports on the ribbon cutting ceremony at the GM&O today on Water Street. The Uncle even got a glimpse of the restoring process of the building Tuesday. The "For Lease" sign still remains there, as the Uncle answered Gene. It appears some lady from Huntsville is behind the so-called "Recall Riley" effort. Earlier in the hallway of the NewsRadio 710 studio the Uncle had a little meeting with Bobby Jackson. Another playing of the "Rocky Top" song comes through, which made the Uncle bring in Leeana's Thursday substitute and Applebees employee Jessica. The Uncle thanks 710 engineer Keith for taking him home yesterday for only a minimum fee. According to Beatty, the Uncle's TV show on Comcast's Port City 6 went blank the other night as it began to air. After two other Bills, old "Bad Bill" finally calls in around the end of the show apologizing for insulting Connie Hudson, but after that said he should have called her an infidel. Leeana will be at the Pat Peck from 7:00 AM-10:00 AM. Today's show gets a 4/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle talking about how much the mood has changed downtown since Mike Dow's fall to the city council yesterday. That's right, the Uncle actually takes the bus since his car blew up a while back. Not much street talk found on that bus. Besides the bus driver, that yelling by some crazed lady didn't stir up any trouble with the Uncle or other passengers, since stuff like that happened long before the creation of cell phones. Expect the Uncle's car to be fixed by the end of this week, as he answered the question by "Bad Bill", followed by yet another insult. Leeana offered the Uncle a $30 ride back home until his car is finally fixed, but was turned down for obvious reasons. The Uncle warned listeners that after the ABC Newsbreak a "recall Gov. Riley" ad would air ordering for the recall of Bob Riley for reasons such as the Alabama Tax Plan and the cutting of school programs statewide after that plan failed. There is still a possible chance Leeana will be wearing that leopard shirt at the Beltline's Pat-Peck during Friday's remote broadcast on "Mobile's First News with Scott O'Brien. Sherri called in thanking the Uncle for the keeping his temper around the pranksters and hopes for a second hour of the Uncle, since she was voting for him in the Mobile Register's Reader's Choice. October 28th is the day the final results of the Reader's Choice Awards will be announced.Today's show gets a 4/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle introducing first time guest Connie Hudson of the Mobile city council. It's official, today all seven council members have voted for the override of the new budget cuts brought up by Mike Dow. The "bullheaded" editorial was brought to Hudson's attention, which she definitely disagrees with. Some cuts from the original plan will be included in the new plan. With the 10th anniversary of the Mobile Convention Center today, comments from callers from a recent show about the center were brought up. "Bad Bill" even had the nerve to insult Hudson on today's show. The Uncle asks Hudson why many women in her district have ran for the city council, which appears sort of odd to him. Memories of the Mobile Convention Center return with audio of Mike Dow opposing the plan for the center in it's beginning stage. Today's show gets a 5/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle wondering what the listeners have been doing this weekend without listening to the show, which brought up the idea of having the show on those days. First time guest Connie Hudson of the Mobile city council will be on the show tomorrow with reaction to the recent happenings. "Moronic editorials", said the Uncle about the editorials in the weekend editions of the Mobile Register. One of those editorials described the council folks as "bullheaded". The Uncle's thankful for not watching the recent Alabama/Northern Illinois game on TV Saturday, which was a loss for Bama. Auburn fan calls in praising the loss of the Tide's loss by playing a tape of the Uncle saying, "I'm an Auburn fan", which is not true. "Bad Bill" calls with comments on the so-called monopoly that the city council is visioning for the future and in his own opinion that Mike Dow is the best mayor Mobile has ever had. Another prankster calls in making pig sounds. Probably an Arkansas Razorback fan, according to the Uncle. After a call from James which included talk on products not being made in America such as Chips A Hoy cookies, the Uncle checked the packages of some snack packages in the nearest trash can, which included powdered donuts eaten this morning. Once again another Auburn fan praising the Tide loss, causing the second playing of audio from an Auburn. Just a new way the Uncle fires back at the football fan pranksters. Leeana has dyed her hair a dark plum type color. Expect the latest in Leeana hair colors for about three months. Again, another playing of the "Rocky Top" song, which makes the Uncle threatening the use of the delay system. Today's show gets a 4/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle telling all that the special Mobile city council meeting that Steve Nodine said would be cancelled did go on as scheduled. The plan for budget cuts still stands without the five votes from the five council folks. Audio of NBC 15 News' report on the budget cuts was played. Caller asks if the next Crimson Tide game will air tomorrow, which unfortunately for that guy will be on Pay-Per-View. Don't expect celebrations when the Mobile sales tax expires, which is never. Another suggestion for a caller ID system to block pranksters from even calling in. As the second half-hour began, the Uncle reminded listeners to be careful on the roads since there were plenty of accidents this morning. Yet again, another complaint about Leeana's clothes by the Uncle, which were leather pants and a leopard shirt. "Bad Bill" called, via answering machine with another insulting message for the Uncle. The Uncle's granddaughter appeared on today's show with limited talk. "Uncle Billy Bob" calls in admitting that he's a racist, but not enough time for the Uncle to speak with this fellow. We start off today's show with a few coughs from the unknown guest, who was revealed by the Uncle to be Steve Nodine appearing on the show for the umpteenth time. Big news involving Nodine is a special meeting tomorrow for the recall of the budget cuts proposed by the Mobile city council. Nodine read the letter from Mike Dow with all the information on the meeting for those were getting confused. It appears legal action would be taken against Nodine if the budget cut proposal does not get recalled. Again, another prankster is the first caller of the day, which was the song "Rocky Top". Somehow shows with guests bring the worst in some callers. Woah, the Uncle was real angry with Mark bringing up the Christian groups voting down anything lottery related for the state. Georgia Bull Dogs fan calls in finding out if the Uncle is wearing a dog muzzle yet. Today's show gets a 3.5/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle thanking a local automotive dealer for towing his car that exploded on the interstate. Mike Dow's veto on the proposal of Mobile budget cuts is not official yet. New Uncle Henry TV Show tonight, which includes an interview with Steve Nodine of the city council. It appears there will be something the Uncle's never heard from Nodine will be on the show tonight. Once again, another prankster calls in with a serious call and ends it with an audio prank. Pretty poor prank if you ask the Uncle. Nope, Leeana was not call in after that prank. Caller Eddie asks what is the purpose of the Alabama state troopers? When Leeana called in to answer the Uncle's question on a natural gas plant, he congratulates her on dressing decent instead of a punk. Due to Monday's show with Ben Brooks, the Uncle was not able to play some audio from an excellent Crimson Tide game, which was played today. Today's show gets a 3.5/5!

We start off today's show with few claps from the Uncle and told the listenersl about Mike Dow's veto power of the budget cuts not being allowed in the upcoming Mobile budget. That's right, for the first time ever Dow has vetoed something. "Hardest speech ever", as described by the Uncle about Gov. Bob Riley's speech claiming that the best days are ahead in Alabama. First call of the day was a prank, which was hung up before the Uncle can cut the call himself. First Leeana's tattoo, now the Uncle complains on her shirt with the word "Vicious" on the "upper area". Brings back the mind other stuff that the Uncle sees very inappropriate, such as the picture of some boy relieving himself that some people put on the back of their cars. Second caller, which was a prankster played audio of when the Uncle said "Lee!" a few minutes ago, but finally a non-prankster called in about a co-worker that scratches himself. The Uncle cut off that guy when he was getting into so-called nasty details. Audio of Mike Dow's comments on the budget cut that was vetoed to not happen. The Uncle lifted his hat and hairpiece (what that?) to audio of the latest goings at the city council. Today's show gets a 4/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle introducing special guest Ben Brooks and Mobile Register articles about the Mobile city council running through the budget cuts for the following year. The articles call the decision for this budget cut "irresponsible". Memories of failed plan for a twice a week garbage pick up return as Brooks brought up what happened during that time. If memory serves the Uncle right, the Register has just about agreed to ever city tax proposed in the last few years, except for the most recent. After the first break, all three lines had callers named John. Two of those Johns made it on the show. In other agreements, Brooks agreed with caller Chuck on the cigarette tax being discriminating. So, Brooks and Clinton Johnson did speak to each other again, which was during the weekend. Two pranksters in a row, causing the Uncle to force Leeana to apologize to Brooks, which was not necessary. We start off today's show with the Uncle being amazed that the Crimson Tide being featured on ESPN twice and shared his thoughts on Johnny Cash, who recently passed on. Long distance call from Tuscaloosa with "Idea Guy", who called to tell the Uncle that he bought what seems to be an Alabama hat for him. Regular caller, sort of Norman called in saying that someone predicted the final scores for the Georgia Tech/Auburn game. A Cash song explaining why he always wore black was played as the Uncle shared his final thoughts on him, along with some on the late John Ritter. The Uncle mostly enjoyed "Three's Company" because Don Knotts was on this show. The station that once aired "Three's Company" reruns was referred as NBC 15 by the Uncle, which was FOX 15 back in the 80s. Leeana's back with talk of her remote broadcast from the Saraland Wal Mart this morning. We start off today's show with the Uncle telling listeners that Leeana is off today to get ready for her big broadcast at the Saraland Wal Mart, so the troubled tattooed Applebees employee Jessica is filling in. The Uncle reminds everyone about two more airings of last night's Uncle Henry TV Show with Ben Brooks. One below average prank comes through and an insulting call from some guy who appears to be A Georgia Bull Dogs fan that wants the Uncle to wear a dog muzzle. A caller created quite a stir with today's show accusing the Uncle of being some racist Southerner, mostly before of his accent. Most callers, including this guy's sister called in to comment on this so-called issue. Today's quite interesting show gets a 4.5/5

We start off today's show with the Uncle talking about some rebuke reported in the Mobile Register that happened at the recent city council meeting. Lots of national coverage on the defeat of the Alabama Tax Plan. Tonight at 7:00 PM, an all-new Uncle Henry TV Show with the Uncle interviewing Ben Brooks on the upcoming budget cuts. Yep, that anti-tax commercial with the Riley/Siegleman Debate that happened before the election was the best in my opinion. Audio of the rebuking Clinton Johnson had with Ben Brooks at the council meetings was played, which includes has Brooks saying that Johnson back stabs folks and old Johnson says that he would never speak with Brooks about any work ever again. Who knows how long that'll last? More on the broadcast from the Saraland Wal Mart! Leeana's broadcast from that store will be on "Mobile's First News with Scott O'Brian". Today's show gets a 4/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle reminding listeners to get out and vote on the Alabama Tax Plan with any kind of license, such as a fishing or pistol license. Steve Nodine calls in with news from the city council on the upcoming agenda for the following year. Interesting e-mail a listener got about the money received by the state after the settlement on a lawsuit with Exxon-Mobil. Big news in Leeana's radio career, as she will do a live broadcast Friday at a Saraland Wal Mart giving away tickets to folks for New Orleans Saints games. Caller asks for the correct pronunciation of "Bologna", which is unknown to the Uncle. Keep a look out for the Uncle at anyone of the voting places around here. Today's show gets a 3/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle talking about his trip to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama/Oklahoma game, which was a lost for the Crimson Tide, but still an excellent game. A lot of talk on a recent Mobile Register article about increasing Mobile tourism with the use of a hovercraft at the Thomasville, Alabama Burger King. Mike Price has returned to the minds of the Uncle and listeners as he interviewed by ESPN on the other night. The Mobile City Council's answering machine message was played before the second half-hour of today's show. More curiosity from some folks on the Don Sieagleman re-election sign, which has been up since the governor election early this year. Audio from the now famous "Show Your I.D." song that's in those ads for the new Alabama voting law. No pranks, folks! Today's show gets a 5/5!

We start off today's show with the Uncle having no idea of what today's show will be about due to distracting thoughts of his upcoming trip to a Crimson Tide game. E-mail from Mike Dow's media person Gina Gregory with information of a 10-cent cigarette tax on the city agenda and other plans. No reason for Leeana to investigate the tax increases percentage asked by a caller, which is 22%. Simple answer by the Uncle on Betty's complaint on Bravo and NBC's "Boy Meets Boy" and "Coupling" shows, "just don't watch". It appears the Uncle has a problem with ice being used for the "Disney on Ice" event at the Civic Center that Leeana took her kids to. Lots of overpriced items were there. Today's show gets a 5/5!

We start off today’s show with the Uncle talking about the thunderstorms now rolling through the Mobile region and the so-called “intoxication” the rain is doing to many folks on the road. Audio Ten Commandments monument was played again in response to a quote about the rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building being of emptiness, now that the Commandments monument has been removed. It appears that Leeana’s excuse for leaving her post, as call-screener is quite a shock, we’ll find out soon. A fired up caller calls in after watching an Uncle Henry TV Show repeat with Bobby Jackson and “is ready to whip some Oklahoma tail”. Suggestion by Joe for a “monument of neutrality” to be placed in that rotunda. The reason it took this long for a new answering machine message to play is due to abuse of the Uncle’s machine with obscene messages and up to 20 messages. The shocking news of why Leeana was gone for a while was that she was hospitalized for a bad back. No, it had nothing to do with the trampoline incident. Today’s show gets a 4.5/5!

We start off today’s show with the Uncle talking about Mobile’s “after glow” effect due to last night’s Ruben concert, which I’ll report on after reviewing today’s show. Gene kept his promise that he would report on the concert, which he did at the beginning of the show. One minor criticism, as described by the Uncle was found in today’s Mobile Register is that it’s still unknown whether Ruben will vote “yes” on the Alabama Tax Plan or not. Interesting question by Scott of how much it costs for bringing Bob Riley to come to the Civic Center last night? Prankster makes it through starting off with a serious call and played an audio prank. Nice to hear Leeana and her theme again, as she called in after the Uncle got a little worried of her whereabouts. Memories of the snafu that was the vote results of the governor election return as audio of an NBC 15 report of the glitch that caused all that confusion and audio of Riley’s victory in the votes. Another prank comes through, which was some guy barking. Georgia Bull Dog fan perhaps? Today’s show gets a 4/5!


Report on the Ruben Concert

We arrived at the Civic Center around 5:30-5:50 PM in the pretty hot weather. Nope, the line wasn’t that long as expected by most folks. Music from stations such as Hot 104 played for everyone waiting the entrance to finally open. I believe I sighted NBC 15’s Rebecca Wilson at the Civic Center in some pink dress of some sorts, since the station was the one I believe was covering the concert. Finally, around 6:00 PM the doors opened and we all walked in toward the air-conditioned lobby. After we got our tickets for the balcony seats, supporters of Riley’s tax plan gave us stickers and other promotions for the plan. Not a single sign or person opposing the plan anywhere. During the long wait for Ruben or somebody to appear on the stage, one of the four playing of the same Alabama Tax Plan promotion played on the large screens hanging above. Ruben’s mother was the one speaking in that promotion. After a promise of Ruben arriving on stage by folks working on the concert, someone finally arrived for our entertainment. It was Ced Delaney of Birmingham that entertained us for the rest of the half-hour. By the way, happy birthday Ced! Funny that so most people thought that heavy-set guy coming in during Delaney’s act was Ruben. Another long wait came, along with another playing of the Ruben promotion, the band Freestyle Nation came in to continue the crowd warm up before our real reason for coming to the concert came in. That was one lengthily performance by that band. Yet another long wait came and the third playing of the tax plan promotion played, but then as the lights went out for the final time, Ruben’s brother appears on stage to introduce the big guy himself. At last Ruben comes on stage to the roaring crowd with a few newly written songs, such as “No Ruben” and the old favorite “Flying without Wings”. Rube introduced a former contestant from American Idol to sing a little bit, as the crowd roared for him too. Hmmm, Ruben knows about Hart’s Fried Chicken! As Rube and his band that was started long before his fame and fortune left the stage, it didn’t take too long the crowd to start leaving. I really doubt that even a large majority of the crowd got to see Bob Riley speaking at the end. An excellent event in Mobile has come and gone to Birmingham. Nothing like this will ever happen in Mobile again.

We start off today's show with the Uncle talking about the Ruben Studdard concert tonight at 7:00 at the Mobile Civic Center, which he won't be able to attend. Henry suggests that Ruben should wear a shirt with the Ten Commandments on it, supporting the return of the monument in Montgomery. Surprise! Bob Riley calls into the show with reaction the latest polls on the Alabama Tax Plan and the TV commercials that oppose the plan. Yep, Riley will be attending the Ruben concert tonight. Two pranks today, one audio and the other accusing the Uncle of wearing a muzzle. "Hey, freak!", says "Bad Bill" at the beginning and end of a call complaining about the Uncle's audio of Crimson Tide games being played after commercial breaks. Today's show gets a 4.5/5! Expect reaction of Ruben's concert from callers during tomorrow's show.

Today’s show was one of the “Best of Uncle Henry” shows, since this is Labor Day. First part originally aired on the second month anniversary of the show, which started off with the news of Steve Nodine’s car accident and a poll on “Drunk Fest”, as the Uncle called BayFest back then. The Uncle really had a different done in voice around that time, which was only about a year ago. Well what the, a sports newsbreak, a Scruff McGruff public service announcement, and more commercials were played over today’s “best of” show. No commercials have been played during the first break since they’ve all been played during parts of today’s repeat. An Alabama Radio Network and ABC Newsbreak played during the very long break. Finally, the Uncle returns after the longest commercial break I’ve ever heard during an Uncle Henry Show, first-run or "best of". Part of the Uncle’s recent interview with Bob Riley was played, which was mostly about his plan for change in Alabama. The Uncle shall return tomorrow! Enjoy the rest of this Labor Day!
