Today's Show

We start off today’s show with the Uncle’s audio Ten Commandments Monument played again before the regular intro that plays at the beginning of most shows. Regular guest Steve Nodine returns to the show talking about a Mobile Register article about so-called racism involved with the Mobile Housing Board’s land purchases for brand new housing. The Uncle almost forgot to play the intro that’s used to introduce Nodine. Yep, Steve is still going to make to the Ruben concert next Tuesday after a meeting with fellow council members . “Yeah, beam me up Scotty” said Gene at the beginning of his call. No, that was not a prank like yesterday’s “I am Batman” thing. This could probably be the last time call screener Jessica works on the show due to a new job at a local Applebees restaurant. Steve suggests to Jessica “stay away from men for a very long time” after her recent break up with some military guy. Today’s show gets 4/5!

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with the Uncle talking about his days off and promoting his favorite meat brand, Hall’s Meats. Interviews by both Paul Finebaum and Scott O’Brian with Bob Riley were promoted. I have doubts that 30 minutes of interview time with Riley would change to voters' mind. An audio Ten Commandments monument in the Uncle’s “radio rotunda”, which was made by the folks at Clear Channel, was played in memory of the real monument at the Alabama Judicial Building that is no longer in public view. Some of the radio personalities that read the Commandments were even afraid of reading them for their playing on today’s show. Two pranks today, one involving “I am Batman” and some audio that’s hardly understandable. More audio from Alan Keyes’ excellent speech was played. Expect caller Gene reporting on the Ruben Studdard concert soon, including one from me. Two calls from “Bad Bill”, one suggesting that the Ten Commandments should be taught in schools and the other one being something silly about not “pledging his allegiance” to the flag, which was obviously some joke. “May your eagle be blessed”, says the Uncle to an Auburn fan attending the Iron Bowl. Nice suggestion for a room that can hold the Commandments for those who want to see it by Diane. Today’s show gets a 4.5/5!

Welcome back, Uncle Henry!

Today's Show

We start off today’s show without the Uncle Henry Show intro due to problems with the computer system that operates News Radio 710 and Scott O’Brian talks with Jerry of the Alabama Republican Party and Bob of the Tax Accountability Coalition that’s against the Alabama Tax Plan. “Bad Bill”, nope not the regular Uncle Henry caller, but it was pretty funny how Scott used it when referring to the tax plan. No ABC News update at the half-hour to the reasons stated above. Little conversation as the second half began with the guests saying what they think of the Uncle. That was weird, it appears a part of an ABC News update was played in the middle of a commercial. Today’s show gets a 4/5! Expect the Uncle’s return tomorrow.

By the way, I now have a ticket to Ruben Studdard's concert at the Mobile Civic Center on September 2nd.

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with Scott O’Brian talking via phone with Alabama’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ed Richardson about how the Alabama Tax Plan would affect all schools in the state, along with answering questions from callers. Before today’s first caller Phil made it through, Scott even asked for the city he’s calling from, which is Mobile. Bingo, Paul made it through after two previous callers left due to the almost half-hour long interview with the Superintendent. Nice to hear a little of the Uncle as the commercial for the Hall’s Meats aired. Looks like the pranksters have taken some time off too. A guy named Henry called in around the end of the show; nope that’s not the Uncle trying to make a surprise entrance via phone. Today’s Uncle Henry-less show gets a 3.5/5! Can’t wait ‘til the Uncle returns.

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with the Uncle saying “Hey, hey, HEY! What are you doing?” as his way of greeting listeners to today’s show. Explanation of the Uncle taking next Monday and Tuesday off was revealed today, which is simply some well-deserved rest, mostly for the Alabama football season. Tax and anti-tax will be the subject on those days without old Henry. If the Alabama Tax Plan fails, the state legislative would likely cut taxes or the plan for a lottery would be brought back. Former New Jersey/Louisiana resident calls in saying Alabama should get out of the so-called “stone age” with the new tax plan. “Bad Bill” begins his call with insults to the Uncle because, “he felt like it”. American Idol Ruben Studdard will be singing at the Mobile Civic Center on September 2nd as part of some pro-tax rally. Maybe the Uncle should interview Ruben for the Uncle Henry TV Show when he’s here in Mobile. Audio from the Uncle’s interview with Gov. Bob Riley was played, which could have given Riley the idea of using Ruben for supporting the tax plan. Once again, another Leeana injury. This time involving a trampoline, which also injured Scott O’Brian impressing his would be wife now divorced. Expect Leeana to be off too next week, but not on the same days as the Uncle. Today’s show gets a 5/5!

Have a good time off, Henry!

Today's Show

Pardon my absence from posting my review of yesterday's day. Don't expect anything like that or my pretty short Monday post again. Anyway, on to the review! On today's show we had a caller, via answering machine bring up how Gov. Bob Riley was promoting the Alabama Tax Plan on the TV ads, as if it's a tax cut. The Uncle compliments Alan Keyes for his excellent speech as of recent, which played on today's show. Listener e-mail is read, including one that has many reasons why Alabamians should vote no on the tax plan, such as choice based programs for schools. Second e-mail includes so-called misinformation in the Mobile Register and a suggestion for an all-new newspaper. Another prank call involving audio of that guy with the creepy laugh, which was a pretty poorly done prank, as the Uncle calls it. Today's show gets a 5/5!

Thanks for the first blog comment and for being a loyal friend and true!

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with a live report from the Mobile city council, which includes the vote to support of the annual Bayfest. “Bad Bill” returns to the show with comments on the voting. The Uncle gave away two free tickets to callers for an event in downtown Mobile. Henry won’t be in for Monday and Tuesday next week, so expect Scott O’Brian to fill in for the Uncle on those days. Today’s show gets a 4/5!

Today's Show

We start off today's show with the Uncle talking about his weekend in Bay Minette, Alabama and brings up some interesting news in a recent Mobile Register poll proving that the Alabama tax plan is done. Only 20% are for the plan. Nope, whatever Bob Riley says is not going to change the minds of those against the tax plan. The second segment was restarted due to another prank involving a recording of that guy with the creepy laugh. Two weeks of head aches for Leeana, not likely. Brief commentary on the roads around here by the Uncle, which can be found at News Radio 710's website. Today's show gets a 4/5!

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with the Uncle talking about how great it is to sweat, especially during in the excellent weather here in Mobile. First caller Jim reports on Gov. Bob Riley’s visit to Mobile yesterday at Spring Hill College. Pretty polite crowd at the meeting, considering this being mostly about the Alabama tax plan. Steve Nodine was also there. The Uncle’s back handling the pranks better. Another excellent Henry (caller) and Henry (The Uncle) conversation! There was another “Uncle Henry” years ago in the New Orleans region with a sailor hat, mentioned by a caller. Today’s show gets a 5/5!

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with the Uncle talking about a great article in the Mobile Register’s sports section about an Alabama player proud of playing for the Crimson Tide. There is will a community wide town hall meeting tonight at Spring Hill College at 6:00 PM. Ann calls in with comments on the constant yelling the Uncle has had with Leeana in the past, who was called to find out if Ann’s call was a set up. “Bad Bill” calls in via answering machine, suggesting that the Uncle should get a new hairdo. Georgia Bull Dogs fan calls with a so-called suggestion of who that man with the creepy laugh is. Lots of talk on the controversial removal of the Ten Commandments monument in Montgomery. Audio of a true classic Uncle/Leeana conversation played with the Uncle asking Leeana to name three Charlton Heston movies. Leeana responded with Omega Man and The “Three” Commandments. Two pranks today. Today’s show gets a 4/5!

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with the Uncle talking about the heavy traffic in downtown Mobile due to the recent storms around here and reminds everyone that Mars is now as close as it can get, so watch out for the Red Planet. For your homemade version of Bayfest, just listen to the radio, buy more cans/bottles of beer than usual and maybe get a sprinkler, says the Uncle. First time I’ve heard a caller refer Steve Nodine by “Steven”. Don’t forget to watch the Uncle Henry TV Show with the creator of the “Hello Uncle Henry” song. As Sherri called in, it appeared that it was another prank, but it was just her radio near by tuned in to the show. It’s true, the Uncle’s magnetic personality has attracted many listeners. One prank made it through, which brings back the almost usual conversation with Leeana after a prank. Today’s show gets a 4/5!

Today's Show

We start off today’s show with the return of Uncle Henry guest Mobile councilman Steve Nodine, who talks about today’s council vote for funding the annual Bayfest event, which Nodine believes, will survive. First caller brings up interesting gossip about “Bad Bill” and a relative of his from California, which he mentioned in a call last week. Another insult at the Uncle during the opening of the second half-hour, but not from old Bill this time. Steve calms the Uncle after another prank involving that creepy laugh that’s been haunting the show in recent days. The Uncle asks the big question to Nodine, “What’s going to happen on Sept. 9th?” Besides a humorous response, Steve responded that the citizens would make the right decision. The “thank you, Uncle Henry” audio that plays during the show’s intro was played by mistake, giving Steve a good laugh. Today’s show gets a 5/5!

Today's Show

We start off today's show with the Uncle showing his love for Hall's Meats and bringing up scoop that Mobile's annual Bayfest possibly won't happen this year. Paul Finebaum used his show to attack Scott Hunter last Friday, according to the Uncle. Hunter even called during Finebaum's show thanking him for his recent visit to Mobile, which caused even more mockery. Kenny reacts to the Finebaum situation by comparing old Paul to Jerry Springer and Howard Stern. "Bad Bill" joins us via answering machine with yet again another insult involving a mocking bird over the Uncle's head. The show was off the air for a couple of minutes due to reasons unknown, considered the weirdest thing to happen in the history of the show. Answering machine call from some lady very angry over the Uncle's interview with Bobby Jackson. She even accuses someone of posing as the Uncle on that show. Power went out at the home of Mr. C around the time the show went off the air. Mr. C joked that the Uncle caused the power outage. After many calls on the answering machine insulting the Uncle, "Bad Bill" finally calls the show with an intelligent question and coversation. A "sign" literally remains from the Don Siegelman era of Alabama that was never taken down. Birmingham taxpayer Bill reports the poll percentages conducted about the Alabama tax plan. Only one prank on today's show, so the Uncle congrats Leeana on doing a fairly good job. It's been confirmed that the caller with the creepy laugh is a man. This fellow is back with another insane call attacking Bobby Jackson, including laughing twice. Lots of profanity this time! Maybe hunting him down is not a bad idea after all, Henry. Today's show gets a 4.5/5!

Today's Show

We start off with a light-headed Uncle Henry talking with both an Alabama and a Gator fan named “Gator”, also a Georgia Bull Dog fan later in the show. Doctors standing by! Don’t forget to vote for the Uncle in the “Radio Disc Jockey” category for the reprinted 2nd Annual Readers’ Choice Awards ballot. 2 answering machine calls back to back from “Bad Bill” involving “bed bugs” and “chicken eggs”. Alabama-Auburn association…..hmmmm? Another prank call with a recording of that guy/lady/weirdo with the creepy laugh. The “Hello Uncle Henry” song plays as the second half-hour begins. Stay tuned next week as the Uncle interviews the creator of that song on the Uncle Henry TV Show. A secret conversation between Leeana and the caller suggesting casinos in Alabama discovered by the Uncle, which involved talk of a Hard Rock Café in Biloxi, Mississippi. Voicemail from the so-called “stalker” of Leeana explaining the truth behind his recent call. “Blah, blah, blah, smash iti hoo hoo” quote the fellow. Today's show gets a 3/5!

Today's Show

We start off the second year of the show with the Uncle talking about the newly sparked controversy over Alabama quarterback Bobby Jackson, along with a few callers. New answering machine message by that weirdo with the creepy laugh, who has a so-called report on Jackson. Paul Finebaum, who host a four-hour sports program that airs after Uncle Henry, has arrived here in Mobile. Better look out for a few Uncle Henry listeners supporting the show's expansion, Paul. Another caller suggesting recall, but for old Finebaum. Reminders of the Mike Price era stirred up some anger in the Uncle by an Auburn fan. Two prank calls today, including one involving a recording of the Uncle's reaction of that creepy laugh from the Bobby basher. "Bad Bill" answering machine call made it to today's show with yet another insult to the Uncle. Leeana's stalker has a creepy laugh? Nope, according to Sherri and me. Today’s show gets a 4/5!

Today's Show

Congratulations to the Uncle Henry Show for it’s first year on the air! We start with the Uncle plugging tonight’s airing of his interview with Alabama quarterback Bobby Jackson, which some how sparked controversy over his personal thoughts. Caller Mike brings up a call that he received recently from supporters of the Alabama tax plan, who even knew his last name. As a non-tax plan supporter, he responded with “no”. Today’s answering machine calls included old “Bad Bill” saying the Uncle should walk down Government St. in a red dress. Chris thinks that call from Bill was pretty hilarious, that it was repeated. The Uncle assumed that Joe was using reverse psychology on him, overtaxing his mind. “No pun intended”, says Henry. According to rumors, it appears Leeana is associated with a natural gas port (Exxon-Mobil), which is true as she explained that she lives near this new terminal. Woah, that is truly one sick, sick, sick caller attacking Bobby Jackson. He/she sounds very familiar. Creepy! Today’s show gets a 4.5/5

Today's Show

We start off with a tired Uncle Henry talking about his meeting with former Alabama quarterback Scott Hunter and playing audio of callers suggesting the expansion of the show, which is nearing the 1st year anniversary. A lot of deep details from a caller on some formula that includes “Mans Minimum Warfare”, or MMW. Yep, the Uncle is truly the “VIP” of the people of Mobile. Clear Channel Radio manager of the Mobile region was on the call-screening list, according the Leeana for reasons we’ll probably never know, or could we pretty soon. Two prank calls and some weird call from some guy named Ernie shouting, but the Uncle managed not to tirade Leeana again. Vote Uncle Henry for the Readers’ Choice Awards category “Radio Disc Jockey”, even though he’s not. New episode of the Uncle Henry TV show airing this weekend with Alabama quarterback Bobby Jackson. Well I’ll be, the Uncle’s answering machine played a call of someone that thinks those prank calls are done on purpose for the show. Today’s show gets a 3.5/5.

Today's Show

We start off with the Uncle talking about a article in the Mobile Register about the Alabama tax plan, which brings up religion into this on going saga. Many callers, including Uncle Henry disagree. "Bad Bill" called in about friends of his from California that are new to Mobile. Nope, no trouble with old Bill this time. Besides a plug for this blog (thanks again, Henry), the Uncle plugged the websites that are for and against the tax plan, including abetteralabama.org and ccbama.org. No prank calls at all today.

I’m bringing up a listener’s e-mail I received over the weekend about the biggest issue many listeners have with the show, the constant lambasting of Leeana over the prank calls. My suggestion for the Uncle to solve this on going problem is to stop bringing in Leeana almost every time somebody calls in with a taped prank call. Maybe those pranksters want to see Leeana get the blame every time a prank of theirs gets through. Thanks Dave for being the first listener/U.H Blog reader to e-mail me.

Today's excellent show gets a 5/5 rating!

Today's Show

The Uncle's "World Tour" AKA Mobile area tour continues ending this week of shows. Missed about 2/3 of today's show due a trip to the Mobile Public Library, so there's not very much to review in today's blog message. One prank call with the sound of a toilet flushing managed to make it through to today's remote broadcast. Uncle Henry returns to the studios of News Radio 710 on Monday. The 2nd Annual Reader's Choice Awards Nominations arrived in today's Mobile Register, which includes a category for favorite radio station, so vote for you know what (WNTM-AM). Today's show from my short minutes of listening gets a 4.5/5!

Closing off this week with the e-mail addresses of the Uncle and me.
